Lady Raider Softball Sweeps Santa Fe on the Road

The Richland High School softball team made it a perfect sweep of Santa Fe this season, routing the Lady Wildcats once again, 15-2 Thursday, for the team’s second district win.


Anna Hart received the start in the circle for the Lady Raiders and held Santa Fe to just five singles and no extra-base hits in picking up the win, while striking out four.


At the plate, Richland scored seven runs in the top of the first to take full control of the contest and led by 10-0 entering the bottom of the fourth. Santa Fe narrowly escaped being run ruled by the Lady Raiders for the second time this year with two runs in the fifth.


For the Lady Raiders, Hannah Burnett finished 3-for-5 at the plate with a double and three runs scored. Hope Calahan finished 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs, and Allison Abernathy finished 2-for-5 with two runs but also reached on three Santa Fe errors. Olivia Newton rounded out the Richland leaders with a 1-for-2 performance with a walk and a run.


Richland is scheduled to play in the Zion Invitational today (Friday) against Zion Christian Academy and Mt. Pleasant with a game against Cornersville scheduled for Saturday.
