GCHS Girls’ Soccer Earns First District Win in Wayne County Rout

The Giles County High School girls’ soccer team earned its first 12-A/AA win of the season in a 9-0 road victory over Wayne County Tuesday.

 

The Lady Bobcats (3-2-1, 1-1) scored five goals in the first 16 minutes of action before subbing heavily in what quickly became a rout. Blair Harmon opened the scoring with a goal in the first minute before freshman Tori Dorcea scored twice in the next 14 minutes. Kate Wallace scored a goal in her first game back after missing the CPA match, while senior defensive captain Jamie Harmond also scored her first goal of the season. GCHS led 7-0 at the half, and Cori Dale, Hannah Hood, Emma Heath and Melanie Sanchez all found the back of the net, as well, as eight different Lady Cats scored in the win.

GCHS goalie Bre Harvey earned her second shutout of the season in goal. The Lady Cats return to action Thursday when they travel to Cascade for another district match set to begin at 5 p.m.
