William Wesley Mitchell

Mr. William Wesley Mitchell, 88, died Nov. 6, 2019, at his home.

 

Mr. Mitchell was born March 9, 1931, in Giles County. He was a graduate of Beech Hill High School, a Korean War Veteran and a graduate of Alabama School of Trade. After many years in the industrial engineering field, including some time at Auburn University, he retired after 25 years as a staff member at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, and then moved back to the Pulaski area. He was a member of Cornersville UMC and a member of the Giles County Methodist Men’s Choir. A man of many talents and interests, he enjoyed woodworking, welding and metal work, making beautiful and useful items from wood and metal, which he often gave away as gifts. An avid outdoorsman, he loved playing golf, gardening and camping while seeing a lot of America with family and friends. He is preceded in death by parents, Samuel W. and Bertha Ozell Harwell Mitchell; brothers, Morris Harwell Mitchell, Thomas Clayton Mitchell; sisters, Carole Ann Williams, Lois Emogene Faulkner; and brothers-in-law, Jerry S. Williams and Thomas F. Faulkner. 

 

Funeral services are tomorrow (Saturday) at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Bennett-May Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in Giles Memory Gardens.

Survivors include wife of 67 years Faye Ingram Mitchell; daughters, Teresa Flatt and husband Raymond of Pleasantview, Patricia Marshall of Nashville; grandchildren, Matthew Flatt and wife Wen of Salt Lake City, Marcus Flatt, Shannon Deocales and husband Dale, Robin Winkowski, all of Nashville, Micah Flatt and wife Brandi of Spring Hill; nine great-grandchildren; and sister Marie Ward and husband Joe of Nolensville.
