Ruth Peden Bass

Mrs. Ruth Peden Bass, 92, died May 15, 2017, at Williamson Medical Center.

Mrs. Bass was born Aug. 1, 1924, in Giles County, and was a longtime member of Graymere Church of Christ. At church she was active in the Williams & Riddle Sunday school class, the meals program and visiting nursing homes and shut-ins. She was a devoted homemaker and caregiver to her family and friends. She was an excellent cook and seamstress and enjoyed working in her yard. She is preceded in death by husband of 70 years Owen Griffin Bass; parents, William Bryant and Julia Hardwick Peden; sister Mary Ann Harper; and brothers, George Peden, William Morris Peden, Paul Howard Peden and James B. Peden.

Funeral services were May 19 at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with John Vaughan officiating. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery. Survivors include daughter Donna Parris and husband Mike of Columbia; son Ronnie Bass and wife Alyce of Bonifay, Fla.; grandson Jeremy R. Bass of Peoria, Ariz.; brother Carl T. Peden and wife Wylodean of Campbellsville; sister-in-law Ruby Peden of Pulaski; and several nieces and nephews.
