Robert Vernon Walker Sr.

Mr. Robert Vernon Walker Sr., 88, of Estill Springs died Oct. 5, 2019, at Southern Manor Assisted Living Center in Winchester.


Mr. Walker was born June 4, 1931, in McMinnville. He was a member of Winchester First United Methodist Church and last attended Estill Springs United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving approximately 22 years for his country.  He was then employed for many years with the U.S. Postal Service in McMinnville. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and was an avid Atlanta Braves baseball fan. He will be remembered by all who knew him as a Christian man and a kind and loving gentleman. He is preceded in death by parents, George Bryan Walker and Mamie Starkey Walker; loving wife of 62 years Mayme Truslow Walker; and brother William (Bill) Walker.


Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Grant Funeral Services in Estill Springs. Memorial services will begin at 3 p.m. with military honors bestowed.

Survivors include sons, Bob Walker Jr. of Estill Springs, Rusty Walker and wife Myra of Pulaski; sisters, Geneva Lad of Garden City, Mich., Frances Orr of LaVergne, Joann Hutsko of Livonia, Mich., Peggy Malone of McMinnville; brother-in-law Billy Truslow of Fredericksburg, Va.; and grandchildren, William Ross Walker of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Stephanie Elaine Walker of Cookeville and Rachel Lynn Walker of Pulaski.
