Robert Glenn Brown

Mr. Robert Glenn Brown, 81, of Ritchie, Ill., died Jan. 12, 2020, at his home.


Mr. Brown was born June 7, 1938, in Ritchie, Ill. He worked for General Motors Fisher Body Company for 14 years, and most recently was an owner/operator truck driver and worked for Melvin Sales out of Streator. He was a member of the Wilmington Church of the Nazarene and also belonged to the United Automobile Workers during his tenure with Fisher Body. He enjoyed gardening, and over the years assisted various local farmers in the area. He had great pride for his vehicles and loved attending both car shows and tractor pulls. He is preceded in death by parents, Harry Glenn and Genevieve Lucille (Jean) Muncey Brown; daughter Julie Ann Galayda; sister Janet Brown; brother Roland Brown; parents-in-law, the Rev. Pink and Maggie Griggs; and brothers- and sisters-in-law; Pink Griggs Jr., Raymond Griggs  and wife Donna, Janella Lovell and husband Gene, Clifford Thomas, Clarence Griggs, Lovelace Griggs and Hudson Griggs.


Visitation is tomorrow (Thursday) from 3-7 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington, Ill. Funeral services will begin at 7 p.m. with son-in-law Eric Maynard and pastor Andy Hamilton officiating. A private family burial will follow Friday, Jan. 17, in Wesley Cemetery in Ritchie. 


Survivors include wife Sarah Griggs Brown; daughters, Lee Ann Maynard and husband Eric, Bobbi Jean Peters and husband Don; son-in-law Jon Galayda; grandchildren: E.J. Maynard and wife Samantha, Hannah Maynard, Paige Peters and Brant Berta, Kayla Peters, Logan Peters, Erica Maynard; great-grandson Memphis; sisters, Evelyn Fennewald and husband Melvin of Wilmington, Ill., Kathleen Hoffman and husband Neilse (Max) of Channahon, Ill.; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Marzee Thomas, Dimple Prentice, Shields Griggs and wife Sharon, Johnny Griggs and wife Judy, LeVert Wilson and husband Johnny, Lib Griggs, Verna Griggs; numerous nieces and nephews; special niece Gina Jaros; and friends, Tom Murray and wife Angela and Fred Walls.
