Patricia Y. Minatra

Mrs. Patricia Y. Minatra, 85, died Nov. 7, 2019, at Keestone-Hewitt House in Pulaski.

 

Mrs. Minatra was born in Ozona, Texas. After moving from Texas, she settled in Pulaski and graduated from Beech Hill High School in 1951. She was employed by Giles County Court Clerk Gil Abernathy until his retirement in 1954, and then worked at the Union Bank in Pulaski until 1955, when her husband was transferred to Lafayette with Kraft Foods. She worked in Lafayette as a secretary at the Smith-Chitwood Hospital until 1957, when her husband received a transfer to Greeneville. There she began work at Laughlin Hospital as a payroll clerk. Twelve years later, she took the position of administrative assistant to the CEO of the hospital and held that position until she retired in 1994. Upon her retirement, she moved with her husband to the Nashville area and began her second career as a caregiver to family members. She ultimately moved back to Pulaski to continue caregiving for other family members until her health declined in 2016. She was a member of Pulaski First UMC where she was a member of the choir and participated in the Shawl Ministry. She will be remembered for her smile, her laugh, her generous heart and fierce love for her family. She is preceded in death by parents, Ben J. Young and Iva S. Morley Young; sister Venecia Hokenson; and brother Larry Young. 

 

Visitation is tomorrow (Saturday) from 1-2:30 p.m. at Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorial services will begin at 2:30 p.m.

 

Memorial donations may be made to the Giles County Public Library, 122 S. Second St., Pulaski, TN 38478; or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

 

Survivors include husband of 68 years Paul Minatra of Pulaski; daughter Paula Pardue and husband Lewis of Prattville, Ala.; granddaughters, Casey Thornton and husband Terry of Montgomery, Ala., Carrie Withers and husband Bobby of Trussville, Ala.; grandson Thomas Pardue of Jacksonville, Ala.; brothers, Glen Young of Texas, Harold Young and wife Ruth of Lawrenceburg, Rex Morley Jr. and wife Phyllis of Wichita, Kan.; and great-grandchildren, Emily Withers, Ayden Withers, both of Trussville, Ala., and Gabrilla Thornton of Montgomery, Ala.
