Lt. Col. William King Toler Sr.

Lt. Col. William King Toler Sr., 85, died Feb. 8, 2019, at Meadowbrook Nursing and Rehabilitation in Pulaski.

Lt. Col. Toler was born April 29, 1933, in Augusta, Ark. He was a graduate of Arkansas Tech. Immediately after graduating he joined the Army where he served two tours as a rescue helicopter pilot in Vietnam and earned the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He personally fixed breakfast every Sunday for his troops. He was a kind, sweet man, respected everyone and took care of them. He loved playing bridge and fishing. He was the kind of person you wanted for a step-father, and friend. He is preceded in death by parents, William S. and Lela King Toler; brother Hayden Toler; sisters, Cornell Toler, Lois Jimmerson, Reva Whitt; and step-daughter Rendy McAlexander Ellingson.

 

A private family service will be held at a later time.

Survivors include wife Elizabeth Sue Potter Toler; sons, William Toler Jr. of Germany, David Toler of Oregon; step-daughters, Roni Curry of Pulaski, Leslie McAlexander of Augusta, Ark., Dianne Hall of Atlanta, Ga., Shannon McAlexander of Elizabethtown, Penn., Angie Norris of Maryville; step-son Charles Lawler of New Hope, Ala.; numerous grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
