Jerry Ezell Norman
Mr. Jerry Ezell Norman, 80, of Columbia, died Feb. 5, 2019, at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care Center.
Mr. Norman was born Aug. 17, 1938, in Maury County, was a 1956 graduate of Columbia Central High School and served in the U. S. Army. While stationed in Fort Hood, Texas, for two years, he formed a lifelong friendship with Comrade George McGeorge of Montrose, Penn., and the late Comrade Kenneth Knott of Salem, Va.; and the military brothers have remained close through the years. He and wife Allene were married Dec. 30, 1977. He was a self-employed truck driver for many years prior to his employment and retirement from Conway Southern Express. He was an active member of First Family Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed Bluegrass music, Atlanta Braves baseball, fishing, spending time with family and friends and making everyone laugh. He is preceded in death by parents, William Henry (W.H.) Norman and Mary Caroline Gibson Norman; sister Helon Duncan; and brother Charles W. Norman.
Visitation will be tomorrow (Thursday) from 4-8 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home in Columbia
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at the funeral home with the Rev. Mike Dawson and the Rev. Rick Blevins officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery with military honors.

Survivors include wife and soulmate of 41 years Allene Owen Norman of Columbia; and several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
