Jeanne Pollock Abernathy

Mrs. Jeanne Pollock Abernathy, 92, died May 9, 2017.

Mrs. Abernathy was born Nov. 15, 1924, in Mt. Joy in Lewis County, but spent most of her life in Pulaski. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and an active member of First UMC in Pulaski and Bethlehem UMC in Franklin. She was also active in local theater at the Heritage at First National Bank. She is preceded in death by husband Robert Abney Abernathy; parents, Zade Bigham and Minnie Currey Pollock; sisters, Mary Jones, Bonnie Hayes, Jessie Marks, Zada Smithson, Ruby Ethridge; brothers, Dick Pollock, Tom Pollock, Zade Pollock Jr.; and nephew Graham Jones.


Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday with funeral services following at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home with Pastor Ryan Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.

Survivors include daughter Cindy Petersen and husband Bob of Franklin; grandchildren, Rob Hagan and wife Kim of Franklin, Emily Prophet and husband Jimmy of Nashville, Laura Sauls and husband Jay of Woodinville, Wash.; great-grandchildren, Ellie Hagan, Aubrey Hagan, Henry Hagan, Jake Prophet, Patrick Prophet, Hutton Sauls, Harrison Sauls, Sabrina Sauls; very special loved ones, Marcia and Neil Winterburn of Pulaski; niece Mimi Pollock; and nephews, Rand Hayes, Danny Ethridge, John Smithson, Billy Smithson, Tom Pollock and Steve Marks.

  • Sorry for your loss. I remember well her energy and fondness for life. She had a way of making those around her feel better about themselves.
