James B. Surles Sr.

Mr. James B. Surles Sr., 88, of Lawrenceburg died Jan. 8, 2019, at STRHS Lawrenceburg.


Mr. Surles was a native of Giles County, retired clerk for CSX Railroad, known to many as The Clock Repair Man and was a member of Coleman Memorial UMC. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He is preceded in death by parents, Lee Roy Surles Sr. and Della Davis Surles; and six brothers.


Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Jan. 12, at Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg. Funeral services will begin at noon with Kevin Marston officiating. Burial will follow at Giles Memory Gardens in Pulaski.


Memorial donations may be made to Coleman Memorial UMC.


Survivors include wife Barbara Ann Loyd Surles of Lawrenceburg; sons, James B. Surles Jr. and wife Sheila of Rogersville, Charlie Surles and wife Memra of Summertown, Larry Surles and wife Julie of West Chester, Ohio; daughter Pam Surles Reding and husband Steve of Florence, Ala.; brother Carl Surles and wife Becky of McMinnville; sisters, Vivian Warren and husband Roger of Columbia, Norma Jean Surles of Pulaski; grandchildren, Erin Surles Jorge and husband Rafael, Scott Surles and wife Chelsea, Nicholas Surles, Joanna Surles and husband Levi, Kristen Surles, Abby Surles Hines and husband Tripp, Sam Surles, Ella Surles, April Reding Vaden and husband Will, Stephanie Reding Stern and husband Brian, Chris Reding; and five great-grandchildren.
