Dorothy W. Tarpley
Mrs. Dorothy (Dot) W. Tarpley, 82, died March 2, 2019, at Meadowbrook Nursing and Rehabilitation in Pulaski.
Mrs. Tarpley was born July 20, 1936, in Ardmore, Ala. She attended Giles County High School and married William Thomas Tarpley July 15, 1953, in Iuka, Miss. She accompanied him to San Diego where he served in the U.S Navy. Upon their return to Tennessee, she was a longtime member of Miracle Baptist Church in LaVergne. Her superior class and refinement were a hallmark of her character evident to all who knew and loved her. She taught the children in her life such things as how to swim and whistle and planted the seeds of lifelong interests such as martial arts. Her family cherishes her boiled custard recipe and it stands as one of the many examples of her care for them. “Mama Too” was loved and cherished deeply by the people she loved. She is preceded in death by parents, Robert Winford Whitt and LaVonia Mason Whitt; brother Mason Whitt; and sister Mary Whitt Fowler.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Survivors include husband of 65 years Tom Tarpley; children, Kent Tarpley and wife Linda of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Denise Tarpley-Ezell and husband Don of Aurora, Colo.; grandchildren, Caleb Paschall and wife Lou, Nathan Paschall, all of Murfreesboro; devoted nieces and nephews and other grandchildren.
