Mr. Dean Holbert, 71, of Parsons died March 5, 2019, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Mr. Holbert was born Nov. 16, 1947, in Pulaski. He graduated from Campbellsville High School then Austin Peay State University. He obtained his master’s degree in education from the University of Tennessee. He worked in the Decatur County School System as an educator and principal, then began a 33-year career with Sysco Corporation where he received numerous sales awards including the Tourchbearer Finalist Award and then the Tourchbearer Award. After retirement, he worked as office manager and senior tax advisor for H & R Block in Parsons until his death. He was also an Angus cattle farmer. He was an active member of Parsons Lions Club and Parsons First Baptist Church where he served as church organist for more than 30 years. He served on the Parsons City Council and served two terms as City of Parsons Mayor. He loved hunting, farming, sports, playing the organ and attending his granchildren’s sporting events. He is preceded in death by parents, Oakley Dean Holbert Sr. and Annie Lou Graves Holbert; and brothers, Coleman Holbert and Doug Holbert.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today (Friday) at Parsons First Baptist Church with Kevin Bromley officiating. Burial will follow in Crossroads Cemetery.

Survivors include wife Dana Hopper Holbert of Parsons; sons, Keenan Holbert and wife Christy of Knoxville; Kurt Holbert and wife Melanie of Decaturville; sister Dot Cooper of Pulaski; and grandchildren, Jackson Holbert, Lainie Holbert, Trece Holbert and Tenlee Holbert.
