Charles Thurman Hubbell

Mr. Charles Thurman (Cup Man) Hubbell, 88, died Nov. 5, 2019, at his residence.

 

Mr. Hubbell was born Aug. 19, 1931 in Maury County and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He graduated from Jones High School in Lynnville in 1950 and joined the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Monsanto Chemical Company after 25 years of service and continued to farm for several years. He was a devoted member of Bethel Church of Christ, where he was a former elder and Sunday School teacher. He had many interests, which included collecting over 23,000 coffee cups and working word puzzle books. He is preceded in death by parents, Smith Shelvin Hubbell and Willie Gladys Thurman Hubbell;  son Charles Michael Hubbell; brothers, Thomas Hubbell, Anderson Hubbell, Milford Hubbell; sister Pearl Burkeen; and grandsons, Shane Hubbell and Brian Hubbell.

 

Funeral services were Nov. 8 at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Larry Benderman officiating. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.

 

Survivors include wife of 65 years Dorothy Faye Underwood Hubbell; son Jerry Wayne Hubbell and wife Janet; sister Elizabeth (Sis) Hubbell; grandchildren, Jennifer Wood and husband Greg, Jason Hubbell, Angela Murray; great-grandchildren, Braxton, Trenton, Kylie, Ansley, Paizlee, Eden, Stephanie, Scott, Wesley, Greg, Zach; two great-great grandchildren; niece Teresa Estis and husband Terry; and nephew Gary Anderson.
