What if I told you snow is guaranteed the night of Thursday, Dec. 5, and you don’t need to worry with stocking up on milk or bread? Christmas cheer and plenty of snow will take over the Historic Downtown Pulaski Square that evening for the Second Annual Christmas Tree and Courthouse Lighting — and you are invited!

Events will begin at 4 p.m. and run until 8 p.m. around the Square with the tree and Courthouse lighting promptly at 7:30 p.m.

Said tree has grown six whole feet taller this year, promising more twinkle and more magic. Speaking of magic; the evening’s offerings are many, sure to entertain the more than 1,800 people expected to attend.

Take your kiddos to meet live camels and donkeys as part of a live nativity scene or pay a visit to the Grinch.

In combination with the Downtown Mingle Jingle, merchants on the Square will take part in the event, staying open to help Christmas shoppers. Open houses and specials will be offered and, by visiting participating businesses, you’ll be entered into a drawing for a cash prize.

Downtown restaurants will be open, along with food trucks offering multiple fare options. Buy a Christmas Tree while you’re at it from The Well Church or adopt a new pet. Two slides will be set up; the Temple of Praise Choir will perform. All these well-planned festivities and more lead up to the magical moment when the big Christmas Tree and historic Courthouse will finally be aglow.

“Its a Hallmark movie right here in Pulaski,” Historic Downtown Pulaski Director Olivia Officer said. “The part I’m excited about is that the tree is going to grow. What makes it really good and what makes this work is that every person is doing a part. Our office couldn’t do all these things, so everybody brings their piece and the whole puzzle comes together. That’s what makes a community event good; everyone brings their piece of the puzzle.”
