BoE Hears Progress Report on School Improvements

Assistant Director of Schools Michael Gonzales reported on a busy summer that has carried over into the new school year at the Board of Education’s monthly meeting Aug. 3.


Roof work at Southside Elementary is 75 percent complete, roof work at Pulaski Elementary is 95 percent complete. Gonzales said rumors that the roof at PES had collapsed are not true. He explained that some ceiling tiles got wet and collapsed inside the building due to the work being done on the roof.


According to Gonzales, the canopy for Southside is ready for installation during hours when students are not at school, work continues inside and outside at Minor Hill School, lightning struck the HVAC unit at Richland and was replaced with three new units.


Plans are being prepared to bid out the Richland wastewater treatment project, Gonzales said.
