Hendricks’ Shutout Leads Bridgeforth to Rivalry Win
Kylie Hendricks threw a complete game shutout Monday, and the Bridgeforth Middle School softball team defeated Richland 7-0 in seven innings at W.D. Savage Memorial Park.
Hendricks struck out 11 with three different innings in which she earned multiple strikeouts. She held Richland to just five hits and no extra-base hits in the win.
Bridgeforth opened the scoring with two runs in the first including a lead-off double by Brooklyn Matthews, who came around to score along with Hanna Hill. The Lady Bobcats led 3-0 in the fourth when Hill lined a three-run triple to the wall in center to double her team’s lead. Hill scored shortly after for her team’s final run.
Katelyn Cox also pitched well for Richland, holding Bridgeforth scoreless in three of her six innings of work and striking out a batter, although the Lady Cats did collect 14 hits in the game.
For Richland, Rachel Rich, Harlee Rich, Halle Braden, Sydney McClure and Gillian Lingelback all collected base hits.
Bridgeforth was led at the plate by Hill, who went 3-for-4 with a triple and three runs scored. Matthews finished 2-for-4 with a double and two runs. Melia Roberts add a 2-for-3 performance with a run, and Maddie White also singled and scored. Hendricks contributed three hits, and Jada Gardner tripled in the sixth.
