Retired Judge Jerry Scott, 75, of Murfreesboro died March 5, 2017.
Judge Scott was born in Nashville to the late Mildred Inez Scott. His legal career began in the U.S. Air Force in the Judge Advocate General’s department and continued as a Military Reserve Judge until his retirement as a Brigadier General. He entered into private practice in Waynesboro with the law firm of Keaton, Haggard, Turner and Scott. He served as a Circuit Judge in the 11th (now 22nd) District, which included Maury, Giles, Lawrence and Wayne Counties; Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals (1979-1995); and Senior Judge for Tennessee (2004-2008). He was a partner in the law firm of Scott & Kea in Murfreesboro (1995-2004) and then Scott and Associates. His civic interests included the Lions Club, Rotary Club, numerous Bar Associations and he was a former Board Member of Special Kids Inc. of Murfreesboro. He was a longtime member, Sunday School leader and former deacon of Belle Aire Baptist Church.
A Celebration of Life was held March 12 at Belle Aire Baptist Church with Dr. Dean Sisk and John Kea officiating. Military Honors were presented.

Survivors include wife Ann Kathryn Brian Scott; daughters, Susan Scott VanDyke and husband Will of Brentwood, Ashley Scott Kelley and husband Jon of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Anna Claire VanDyke, William David VanDyke, Luke Taylor VanDyke, Evie Grace Kelley and Ian Scott Kelley.
